Career Cluster: Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security The Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security Cluster helps prepare students for careers in planning, managing, and providing legal, public safety, protective services and homeland security, including professional and technical support services. ![]() Career: Firefighting Firefighters protect people from the dangers of fires. They must stay physically fit and strong. At the scene of a fire, they rescue victims, perform emergency medical aid, and operate and maintain equipment. During their shifts, firefighters live at the fire station. Most work 50 hours a week or more. Forest firefighters may parachute into a fire area to put out fires and dig a fire line. Firefighting is one of the most dangerous jobs in the U.S. economy. Open to all students, each entry should celebrate and inspire career development with a positive tone. Poems - Use any acceptable poetic form. Submit on a single sheet of paper 8.5" x1 1" in 12 pt. font. Posters - Category 1 - ink, pencil, poster paints, magic marker, acrylics, and oils. Category 2 - photos, clipart, graphic art software, collage, cut & pasted paper, and mixed media. Size - 8.5" x 11" format, including matte to be eligible.
